Cheap laughs from ars

I'm busy reading this, which outlines a concern that lots of Europeans have, which is how to comply with EU data protection laws and the US court system at the same time. SWIFT appear to be dealing with the problem, which is good. Ars then gives an example of a similar American massive surveillance system, Echelon, and how it feels the US has abused the system to catch Airbus bribing people. Now, I'm naive, but I feel that bribing people is wrong. And while two wrongs don't make a right, I'm not happy with the idea that Europe's main complaint about Echelon is that it was used to catch Europeans breaking their laws. This would be similar to UK drivers complaining about speed cameras by complaining that they catch speeders, rather than them causing accidents or being used as a way to make money. So could ars use a better example of abuse in the future, as I'm sure there must be one?

Sorry for moaning, I'll return you to your normal diet of interesting stuff from DDs
